We have been an active group for the older residents of Middleton Cheney meeting in the village hall since the 1950s. The name has changed several times over the decades, but our aim to provide a place for people to come together and enjoy themselves.
The group meets on a monthly basis - the first Wednesday of the month between 2pm and 4pm. We have entertainment (speakers/music/quizzes etc.) - usually lasting about 45 minutes. The topics range from the work of the RSPCA to life in the army. The music can be a singalong with a local ukulele group. This is followed by refreshments and a bingo session and raffles.
We charge an entrance fee, and the bingo and one raffle are extra. We also have an "items for sale" table, sell fresh local eggs, and do a monthly quiz sheet. We do stalls at local events and are starting a bingo evening. The money raised covers the costs of hiring the village hall and of the meeting. The funds also cover the cost of subsidising the December meeting when we do a full Christmas package with dinner and gifts.
The best way to join in the fun, is to come along to a meeting. As a potential new member, you will be welcomed and given all the information you need. Don't worry if you don't know anyone at the meeting you will be introduced to a group on one of the tables and before you know it, you will know everyone!
